The part of TOM is played by Pepijn Caudron (°1975).

Tom (28) is the prototype of a progressive man: well-qualified, earns a double income, is a left-wing urbanite who grew up in a socialist environment (both parents are teachers). In his view, multiculturalism works well but is spoilt by certain curmudgeons. He works as a reporter for the city-life lift-out of the biggest newspaper in the country. He thinks he is happy with his life: he has a good-looking, intelligent girlfriend and he likes to discuss the problems of the world with his like-minded friends. Because Tom’s parents are divorced and Tom was mainly brought up by his mother, he sees his grandfather Bob more or less as a father and has many (mainly political) arguments with him.
